Sagrantino takes its name from the grape that is used to make some of the best wines in Umbria. This grape is one of the most tannic varieties in the world and creates red wines that are famous for the intensity of their aroma.
In the recommended itinerary for this tour you will get to Montefalco in the morning, for the visit and the wine tasting at a local winery, that is renowned for the production of high-quality wines. You can decide to stay here for a light lunch, tasting some good local food with a selection of wines, or you can have lunch in one of the restaurants in the small, but picturesque, old town of Montefalco.
After lunch, if you would like to try the very good extra virgin olive oil made in the surrounding hills, you can decide to visit a local oil producer for a tasting. Alternatively, the tour can continue to Torgiano, another town that represents the feather in the cap of the Umbria’s wine production, where it is possible to enjoy a visit and a wine tasting at one of the most renowned wineries in the area.
